Project Green

King Metals is dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint.

At King Metals, we take steps every day to reduce our carbon footprint while yet facilitating the production of fence, gate, railing, furniture, lighting and other metal fabrication projects that will last for centuries. This takes form in many areas and guides us to be the most responsible stewards of our environment as possible.
All Scrap Is Recycled in to New Products
Our production operations generate a sizeable amount of scrap every year; this scrap is recycled and brought to new life through the forging and casting process to bring you the products you need for your own projects.
Leeds Infrastructure
In addition to recycling, we also support vendors and partners who take part in the Leeds Green Infrastructure Strategy. This community-based strategy emphasizes green space for outdoor activities, habitat for wildlife with access to nature for people, local food production and improved health and well-being for our own work force and others by minimizing building infrastructure’s environmental impact.
Biodegradable, Water-Based Rust Inhibitor for Koenig Eisen Forgings
It is hard to imagine metal as being green, but ours is. After sandblasting, we coat our products with sodium nitrate, a safe biodegradable and water-soluble rust inhibitor that can be quickly and easily removed with water – so no petroleum agents are ever needed.

Metal Guide

Steel

Pipe
Structural Steel Pipe, is a welded steel tube with a internal weld seam that is measured in nominal size unlike DOM or Welded Round Tube. A500 Steel Pipe is a economical structural grade pipe with a smooth bare finish that has slighter higher mechanical properties than standard pipe. Schedule 40 steel pipe is the most commonly used pipe schedule. It can be galvanized — although it doesn't have to be — and is usually used in water and gas lines. It may also appear in places that need ornamentation or support. It makes a great pipe due to its versatility and performance strength.

Beam Specs
Angle
What is steel angle bar? An angle bar also referred to as an angle iron or L-bracket, is a finished metal part in a right-angle shape, with perpendicular legs that may be equal or unequal in length. It is typically manufactured through hot rolling carbon steel or a high-strength, low alloy steel that is highly ductile and machinable.

Beam Specs
Channel
Steel channels come in 4 classes: junior, bar, structural, and mc. Junior channel is generally the lightest with a weight of 6-10 lbs/foot.

Bar channel has a u-shaped cross section with two narrow sides at right angles to a broader one, with the greatest dimension at less than 3 inches.

Structural is the same as bar, except at least one of its dimensions is 3 inches or greater. Mc channel is generally used for cars or ships with miscellaneous shapes.

Beam Specs
Beam
Steel beams come in 3 classes: junior, standard, and wide flange. Each beam class has different uses and specs.

Beam Specs
Plate & Sheet
The term “sheet metal” refers to any metal that can be formed into flat pieces of varying thicknesses. Thick metals are called plate. The difference between a metal sheet and metal plate can be defined by thickness. If the thickness of the metal is ¼” or more, then it is considered a plate. Plate thickness is typically measured in inches. If the thickness is less than ¼” , it is considered sheet.

Steel floor plate, also known as steel diamond plate or steel tread plate has a raised diamond lug pattern that provides excellent skid resistance for a wide range of applications.

Popular uses for hot rolled steel sheet include: automotive panels, tool boxes, hoppers, drip pans, fuel tanks, trailer siding & roofing, etc.

Beam Specs
Z-Purlin
A horizontal beam along the length of a roof, resting on a main rafter and supporting rafters or boards.

Beam Specs
Expanded Metal
Steel expanded metal is typically used for screening, ventilating or security as a guard. The openings permit passage of light, air, heat and sound, and the sheet is lightweight and easy to fabricate and form. It also comes flat, when it is not raised at the diamond punches. For heavy duty or load bearing requirements, use expanded metal grating.

Beam Specs
Flat Bar
Hot rolled flat steel bar, is widely used for all general fabrication and repairs in industrial maintenance, agricultural implements, transportation equipment. Flat bar also comes in metric sizes from 6mm-8mm thick.

Beam Specs
Bar Grating
Steel bar grating, also known as welded steel bar grate is extremely strong and durable for all load bearing applications and is primarily used for pedestrian and light vehicle traffic.

Beam Specs
C-Purlin
A horizontal beam along the length of a roof, resting on a main rafter and supporting the common rafters or boards.

Beam Specs
Solid Bar
Hot rolled solid steel bar comes in both square & round in both imperial and metric sizes. Steel bar is widely used for all general fabrication and repairs in industrial maintenance, agricultural implements, transportation equipment, ornamental work, and other purposes.

Reinforcing bar, also known as reinforcing steel or rebar, is a steel bar or mesh of steel wires uses as a tension device in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry structures, to strengthen and hold the concrete in tension.

Beam Specs
Tubing
Welded round steel tube, also known as HREW is a hot rolled electric welded round tube that is a very economical alternative to DOM round steel tube. Welded round steel tube is a structural grade tube that is suitable for a wide variety of applications where dimensional accuracy and precision tolerances is not a primary concern. The weld seam is present inside the tube.

Rectangle & square steel tube, is a welded structural steel tube with an internal weld seam present. Available in A513 or A500 grade B depending on its size and wall thickness. Rectangle & square steel tube is widely used in industrial maintenance, agricultural implements, transportation equipment, ornamental, etc.

Beam Specs
